Accreditation
For accreditation, an individual must submit the Paramedic Personnel Application along with copies (front and back) of the following documentation:
- Written documentation of employment with an approved Santa Barbara County ALS service provider
- Government issued identification (e.g. driver's license)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) – either AHA or SBCEMSA Approved Program
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Card(ACLS) (Must be current and meet American Heart Guidelines)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or PEPP Card (Must be current)
- Pay the Established Fee
After a complete Application is received and approved, the accrediting paramedic will be given the SBCEMSA approved orientation of the local EMS system. This will be given through electronic means, either link via email or approved online learning management system. Once complete, the accrediting paramedic will also be provided an electronic accreditation test based on the System Orientation (orientation and test will not exceed 4 hours). Once received, the Paramedic will be approved for Provisional Accreditation.

Reverification
For reverification, an individual must submit the Paramedic Personnel Application along with copies (front and back) of the following documentation:
- Paramedic License (Must be current in the State of California) (copy)
- CPR Certification - either SBCEMSA approved program or AHA
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life (PALS) or Pediatric Education for Prehospital Providers (PEPP)
- Attend a minimum of one (1) SBCEMSA Skills Refresher session per calendar year
- Completion of all SBCEMSA assigned training within licensure period, which includes all in-person and online training

Paramedic Preceptor Designation
To become a designated Paramedic Preceptor in Santa Barbara County, an individual must submit the Paramedic Preceptor Designation Application along with copies of the following documentation:
- One letter of recommendation from the service provider Medical Director recommending preceptor designation; and
- Completion of the FISDAP online preceptor training module that can be found HERE
- Successfully pass the approved SBCEMSA accreditation test; and
- Be currently employed as a full-time paramedic; and
- A minimum of two (2) years of continuous accreditation and practice as a paramedic; and
- Letter of Approval from employer.

Paramedic Intern Authorization
Before a Paramedic Internship may begin in Santa Barbara County, an individual must submit the Paramedic Personnel Application along with copies of the following documentation:
- Letter from ALS Service Provider with intent to precept Intern; and
- Letter from paramedic training program indicating student is in good standing and has met all requirements to enter into a field internship; and
- Copy of government ID (e.g. driver's license); and
- Copy of current EMT certification; and
- Current CPR certification - either SBCEMSA Approved program or AHA; and
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); and
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life (PALS) or Pediatric Education for Prehospital Providers (PEPP)
Before an application is approved, Interns must complete the SBCEMSA approved orientation of the local EMS system, and pass an approved test. The training materials and test will be electronic, and will be provided by the SBCEMSA via email once a complete application is received.
