CalFresh Healthy Living supports healthy, active and nourished lifestyles by teaching low-income residents about good nutrition and how to stretch their food dollars, while also building partnerships in communities to make the healthy choice, the easy choice. CalFresh Healthy Living facilitates behaviorally focused, evidence-based, nutrition and physical activity education interventions. We reach out through lessons, social media campaigns, school gardens, taste-testing activities, walk-to-school events, and school wellness policies. The Tri-Counties Cancer Detection Partnership coordinates the provision of free breast and cervical cancer screening to over 6,000 lower-income individuals in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo Counties each year, under the state's Every Woman Counts program. The Tobacco Prevention Program provides a variety of education, cessation, and enforcement services to prevent youth from beginning tobacco and electronic smoking device use, to help tobacco user's quit, and to protect the public from the harmful effects of secondhand smoke. Educational materials and resource information are available, as are professional training and assistance with tobacco-related issues, including questions about smoking laws. Opportunities for youth and adult involvement exist with our community coalition and at local events. Limited funding is provided to community organizations to achieve program goals.
