Santa Barbara County Public Health Laboratory

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Laboratory provides a comprehensive array of testing services, which focus on and support the communicable disease control activities of the Public Health Department. Our Environmental Health department provides services for testing bacterial concentrations in potable and recreational water in addition to aiding in the identification and microbiological assessment of food borne illness . Moreover, the Public Health Laboratory also surveys wildlife and domesticated animals for the rabies virus via the Santa Barbara County Animal Services department.  The laboratory offers consultation and reference services to the local medical community and facilitates access to the special testing services provided by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Hours of Operation

The laboratory is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday
